It is not possible to order custom (digital)MLPA probes or probemixes from MRC Holland. However, we are always interested in your suggestions and ideas, and we do continue with some requests.
If you are interested in a gene or region that is not covered by our existing products, we recommend that you contact us first to discuss the possibilities. In some cases, we may already have a restricted product or a product in development that aligns with your interests.
All other suggestions and requests are evaluated by our product development department. In general, we are most likely to develop new probes or probemixes if we think the application is of broad interest. Therefore, it helps if you include the following information in your request:
- Detailed information about the target area(s).
- Information on the medical condition(s) associated with aberrations in the target area(s).
- The prevalence of copy number changes and point mutations in the medical condition.
- Any references that may help us evaluate your request.
If we decide to continue with your request, all development costs are paid by MRC Holland. The developed product will generally first be shared with the requesting labs. Once the product has been proven to be useful, it will usually be released to all our customers. In some cases, we can keep the developed probemix exclusive to the requesting lab(s), e.g. until a publication has been accepted. Please ask us about the possibilities.
It is important to note that the development and production of a new product can take a significant amount of time, and that we do not have the resources to honour all requests.
It is also not possible to order a selection of targets from an existing probemix. However, in some cases you may be able to hide results from probes that are not of interest for your application.
