RNA in the DNA sample has no effect on the majority of MLPA and digitalMLPA probemixes. Exceptions are clearly indicated in the product descriptions of the relevant products.
Background
A small number of (digital)MLPA probes are sensitive to (very) high levels of RNA in the DNA sample. Examples include probes for the HBA and HBB genes in blood-derived DNA, and probes for (mitochondrial) ribosomal RNA genes. If RNA can lead to issues, a protocol for RNase treatment is included in the product description. For all other products, the presence of RNA does not lead to issues.
