No special training is required to perform conventional MLPA or digitalMLPA experiments, as long as you are familiar with general laboratory practices, pipetting and using a thermocycler.
The conventional MLPA and digitalMLPA protocols are conceptually simple, and can easily be mastered. For good results, it is obviously important to strictly adhere to the protocol at all times. Most laboratories implement the (digital)MLPA technique themselves.
Conventional MLPA requires a capillary electrophoresis system, while digitalMLPA requires an Illumina next-generation sequencing (NGS) system. It is important that you know how to operate this equipment yourself, or that you have a core facility with the necessary expertise. MRC Holland does not provide training on the operation of these devices; for this, you can contact the device manufacturers.
If you run into difficulties implementing (digital)MLPA or if you need help with your initial experiments, you are always welcome to contact us for assistance.
