SALSA® stands for Selective Adaptor Ligation, Selective Amplification. This actually has nothing to do with MLPA or our other current techniques, but refers to another technique that was developed by MRC Holland around 1997. Development of this technique was discontinued early on, but the name SALSA was already registered and we decided to stick with it. One of the reasons that we still use SALSA in our product names is to emphasize that these products have been produced by MRC Holland, which clearly distinguishes them from custom-made probemixes.
