How many digitalMLPA samples can I combine in a single run?

You can calculate the maximum number of digitalMLPA samples that can be included in a single sequencing run using the calculator below.

Click here if the calculator does not load properly.

Background

The calculator uses the formula below with a minimum desired read depth of 600.

MRC Holland only has a limited number of barcodes available (see the product description of the probemix for details about the barcode plates that are suitable for the probemix). Depending on the machine and the Illumina reagent kit capacity, the number of samples that can be combined in a single run may be limited either by the reagent kit capacity or by the number of available barcodes.

Note
The required read depth of 400 as mentioned in the digitalMLPA General Protocol is the absolute minimum. To avoid potential warnings for median total reads and read depth during analysis with Coffalyser digitalMLPA, it is recommended to use 600 as required minimum read depth. Determining the optimal value for your system may require some optimization.
