SMA is a life-threatening genetic neuromuscular disorder that affects the nerve cells controlling the muscles. MRC Holland has several products available that can be used for SMA testing. This includes SALSA® MC002 SMA Newborn Screen and the SALSA® MLPA® Probemixes P021 SMA, P060 SMA Carrier, and P460 SMA (Silent) Carrier.

This brochure explains why neonatal screening for SMA is useful, and what products from MRC Holland can be used for this purpose.
